Bronze Bunnies

IVC Gallery just received a new bronze piece from artist Christina Jordan Naruszewicz. It's a beautiful little piece of art work that looks beautiful as a coffee table center piece or as an adornment to a bookcase.

Please contact for inquiry at ian@ianvcollective.com or come by the gallery at 1738 NW 16th.

Efterklang: Creative Genius

I figured I would write a post on who, in my opinion, is one of the most creative bands of our time. They first caught my attention when a friend showed me a performance they did "Efterklang & The Danish National Chamber Orchestra" in September of 2008. Not only did the music greatly uplift me but the radiating happiness coming from all the performers filled me with an equal amount of joy. (Video from performance bellow).

I immediatly comenced to wear out videos of their live performaces as well as their two released albums, "Tripper"(04) and "Parades"(07).

Two years go by and my attention, in that span, drifts from band to band. It was easy to get lost in the amazinly vast and accesable sea of indie music. Between sharing, YouTube, soundcloud, bandcamp, grooveshark, pandora, etc. an incredible world of infinite creativity and inspiration is effortlessly available.

In 2010 Efterklang released a new single, "Modern Drift" that again filled me with that same joy I felt upon my first experience with the band. Modern Drift is a magically playful and complex song. The rest of the album "Magic Chairs" is equally as wonderful.

Efterklang again fell off my radar as new things caught my attention until one day, in in the late summer of 2012, whilst listening to NPR, I hear a mention of the band and there new projecect and album "Piramida". Piramida is an album that was produced using recorded sounds made on an array of objects, from buildings to books, to nature, to broken artifacts in an abandoned mining town in the Arctic Circle. After using the google to find out more, I came across a trailer for "Efterklang Presents: The Ghost of Piramida" (video below) and once again fell in love with the band. The album is outstanding and wildly unique, I recommend listening to it straight through.

I bring all this up now because I have once more been reminded of Efterklang's charming genius after watching a recent "NPR Tiny Desk Concert" featuring Efterklang. Below I have posted all the mentioned performances and songs. Listen, get aquainted, and enjoy!

FLOWER OF LIFE

This step by step tutorial illustrates how to draw a simple Flower of Life. The Flower of Life is the blueprint of creation. It contains within it all geometric forms. Among other things, it is a symbol for the interconnectedness of all things.
